We started the year out with a friend birthday party for Caroline. She requested a unicorn party, and I think it turned out to be a fun time! Shes only 4 so her circle of friends is pretty small, which was actually really nice! It was low key and fun. First we played a few rounds of unicorn ring toss, followed by pin the horn on the unicorn. Next we had a photo booth. The girls especially loved picking props and posing in the booth. It was really cute to see them strike their unique poses! After that we have ice cream cones (per Caroline's request!) and called it a day!
Stephan and I went ax throwing one night! It was really fun, and surprisingly not as hard as I anticipated. Stephan was a natural! He consistently hit the target and was more often than not in the bulls eye.
Luke continues to make us laugh! He has turned into such a ham. His new favorite thing to say is a drawn out "Ooooookaaayyyy" when we tell him to do or not do something. He has also mastered jumping off of his slide, rather than sliding down. He loves it, and one time he did it over and over again for about 30 minutes. He stands up at the top and just giggles. Then he basically falls and belly flops onto the bean bag chair at the bottom. It's pretty funny! He has also become more interested in playing with his toy trucks. He likes to push them around on the floor and push the buttons to make noise. We love our little Lukie! ... Even though he is quite the tornado and leaves destruction wherever he goes!
Caroline has been asking for me to teach her how to read for soooo long and we finally started at the beginning of this month! She is a very confident and eager learner; however, her attention span is not very long. We are really only able to complete half of a lesson at a time, but she loves it! She was so proud of herself when she read her first word the other day. She looked at me beaming and said " I did it! I read my first word!" and gave me a hug! It was very sweet. I love seeing my children accomplish hard things and see the pride in their eyes!
Caroline also really loves puzzles. She got a new puzzle that is 60 pieces. It is biggest puzzle yet, and had so much fun putting it together! The day she got the puzzle she put it together at least 4 times!
Brooklyn is doing so well in school! She has received perfect marks on her report cards so far, she is reading really well, and really getting the hang of addition and subtraction! I'm really proud of her hard work. It's so fun to see it pay off!
Brooklyn had her 100th day of school this month! I put my new Cameo cuttiing machine to use and made her a T-shirt to wear. The highlight of the day was getting to eat 100 pieces of snack!
We had a tiny bit of snow earlier this month. Luckily it was on a Monday and a holiday, so Stephan could go out and play with the kids. We also had Ellie over for a sleep over, so it was extra fun...even though there was literally only a dusty of snow! Luke felt the effects of having two older sisters when he had to wear a pink snowsuit!
For Caroline's birthday present we got to go to the Inflatable Fun Factory. We ended up not being able to go until a couple weeks after her birthday, but it was worth the wait! Everyone had a blast! The Gries' joined us, and we had a lot of fun together. Caroline is now requesting that for her next birthday present. :)
We FINALLY replaced the blue light in our kitchen, and we were even able to make $40 off it selling it on Facebook. Woo! It makes a big difference in our kitchen not having another hanging light in the middle!
The weather this winter has been all over the place! Not long after our "snow day" it warmed up and we had some pretty big rain storms. We had a lot of fun jumping in puddles one day! It was Luke's first time and he LOVED it! He is not opposed to getting wet or dirty and came in soaked despite having a rain jacket and rain boots on. Caroline of course wanted to end the outing with hot chocolate!
2020 is off to a great start! I'm excited to see what this year brings for our family! Now on February!
